"For me, Georgia State University is the supporter of many dreams. Growing up in a rural area in Vietnam, I remembered arriving in the United States feeling simultaneously thrilled and anxious about the prospect of navigating college by myself. But I soon realized that I did not have to do this alone.
Georgia State University offers students like me various supports along the way. Two years after transferring to Georgia State University from Georgia Perimeter College, I have been an Honors College student, undergraduate researcher, supplemental instruction leader, refugee advocate, and the recipient of various Georgia State University scholarships.
Recently, I also received funding from University Assistantship and the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development program to conduct research in Dr. Bingzhong Xue’s lab to study the molecular mechanisms of obesity. With the help from University Career Services, I successfully applied and was accepted to Johns Hopkins School of Public Health to continue my research as a Ph.D student!"
