University Career Services (UCS) understands that international students face several barriers to gaining employment. We are happy to assist in helping this population in setting and achieving goals in a timely manner. Please review the resources below to get an introduction into this area.
UCS and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) come together each semester to offer a workshop designed to help F-1 and J-1 students understand how to secure employment in the United States. The workshop is designed to provide valuable information on how to transition from international status to practical training as well as work visa to potential U.S. residency.
Topics discussed are:
- Overcoming obstacles
- Competing in the U.S. job market
- How to receive sponsorship
- Immigration evolution
- Practical/academic training
- Employment law
