Handshake – Students

Current Students

Current students (and recent alumni who have graduated within the past year) should use the following instructions to access Handshake.

  1. Log into Handshake using your campus ID and password.
  2. Review your profile information to ensure its accurate.
  3. Start using Handshake to search for internship and job opportunities, search for and register to attend career events and to schedule on campus interviews with recruiters.

Student Login 

You do not need to have your résumé approved by a UCS staff member prior to applying for positions. However, you can always have your résumé reviewed without an appointment during Career Drop-Ins.

New Students

Please be advised that new/incoming students (those that will begin attending classes during the next semester) will not have access to Handshake until they begin attending classes.

Alumni 

Alumni who have graduated over one year ago have the option of enrolling in our Tier II service program. For more information, please call 404-413-1820.

Handshake is University Career Services' (UCS) online job board that allows career services office staff members and employers to communicate with students and alumni on career management related topics. Handshake is used to inform job seekers about career programs, on-campus recruiting and employment opportunities!
UCS strives to post quality employment opportunities in Handshake. However, students are responsible for making all necessary inquiries into the businesses to which they apply. It is also the responsibility of the job seeker to make informed decisions regarding applications and accepting employment offers. If you have concerns about a job posting or other issues related to the employment process, please contact UCS.
To get started, log into Handshake with your campus ID and password. If you do not know your campus ID and password, follow these steps to find your campus ID or to reset your password. If you should have problems accessing Handshake, please contact UCS for assistance.
Your username and password is your official Georgia State University campus ID and password. If you do not know your campus ID and password, follow these steps to find your campus ID or to reset your password.
To upload your documents, log into Handshake. Once you are in the system, click Documents under My Profile, and then click Add New Document. Name your document and upload it from your storage device or computer. Note: You can always bring your résumé to Student Center West, Room 270 to have it reviewed by a professional UCS staff member. You can add as many other documents as you wish without having to get them approved first.
You can search and view all upcoming interviews using the On-Campus Interviews tab along the left navigation.
Some information including year in school, GPA and other select fields cannot be changed by the user. Handshake routinely updates information collected from Georgia State University's student database. For such changes, please contact the Registrar’s office as this is the information they have on file for you.
Georgia State University email is the official communication vehicle for all current students. It is the student's responsibility to frequently access the email account for vital university information. You can forward your Georgia State University email messages to your personal account following these easy steps:

  • Go to the Georgia State University password support page.
  • Log in using your user name and password.
  • Go to options and mailbox management.
  • Under forward all new messages, select yes.
  • If you want to keep copies of your messages in your student mailbox, select yes for the keep copy option.
  • In the forward to field, provide one or more email addresses where you want to forward your messages. List one email address per line.
  • Be sure to save your changes.

Georgia State University student email accounts are deactivated after a student has not been enrolled in a course at Georgia State University for two years. Please contact UCS at 404-403-1820 to ask about Tier 2 Alumni services.
