In a World of Opportunities…
“When I came in to University Career Services, I was at my bottom. I had tried two other career counseling services to no avail. I had tried two part-time jobs, but had to quit due to the stress. I met Ashley Watts at University Career Services, and she asked me what I really wanted to do if I could do anything. I told her my dream has always been to make movie trailers, so she told me to pick ten places that do that and to write them good, old-fashioned snail-mail letters and to call them. One place actually talked to me (luckily it’s the one place that won the industry’s Agency of the Year award last year), and they had me do three different writer’s tests. About two and a half months later, I am about to go out to Los Angeles to finally work in my dream job of making movie trailers. I can honestly say that it would not have happened if Ashley hadn’t lit that fire under me! She saw me through every step of the way, from how to cold call people to how to handle negotiations.”
